About Me

I go by tinydove, which was a nickname given by my husband when we first began dating. I’m 26, originally from Northern Michigan, currently living in SE Michigan. My husband is 36, and we were married in December 2011. We have been trying to start a family since February 2012. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in November 2012 after many long cycles without ovulation. We began to see an Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) in January 2013, but we took a break once we began the process of buying a house.

Treatment Timeline

November 2012: Diagnosed PCOS, started Metformin. Instructed to come back to OB/GYN in January to start Clomid unmonitored, call an RE instead

January 2013: SA- Normal; Femara 5 mg to induce ovulation; no response

February 2013: Femara 7.5 mg to induce ovulation; no response (larger follicles, but none mature enough to release an egg)

March 2013: RE wants to start Clomid at a higher dose since Femara is nearly maxed out, or do a cycle of injections to induce ovulation (basically an IUI cycle without the actual IUI)

April 2013: Took a break from treatments, bought a house, and started a new job (officially my first one related to my degree, the start of my career).

May 2013 – April 2014: Getting adjusted to new job, house, and trying different things here and there. Attempting to make nutritional changes and taking holistic approach.

May 2014: Started a better job.

June 2014 – September 2014: Attempting nutritional changes still, using essential oils.

September 2014: Underwent endometrial biopsy and saline ultrasound to check for fibroids, polyps, or other etiology of abnormal prolonged bleeding (persisting nearly nonstop since the beginning of 2014). Resulted normal; hormonal cause of bleeding. Started one month of birth control pills to stop bleeding and hopefully “reset” cycles.

October 2014: Looking to return to RE.

November 2014: Returned to RE – Clomid Cycle #1 – TBD
